After Hurricane Sandy ravaged the Northeast on October 29, 2012, the Accusoft employees decided to do something to help the victims of this massive storm. Everyone in the company came together in support of family, friends and neighbors through the Accusoft in the Community program, which is one of the charitable programs at Accusoft.
Accusoft in the Community is a company-wide program that encourages Accusoft employees to give to their local communities with an Employee Donation Matching program, including raising money for the American Red Cross. Accusoft recognizes that there are many worthy causes, and encourages each employee to champion a cause that is important to them. Accusoft then matches employee donations in order to encourage community involvement and foster a rewarding work experience for our employees. Accusoft has donated thousands of dollars to the American Red Cross, and other non-profit organizations, over the course of 2012.
“We are making a difference together. To date, you have helped us provide more than 61,000 overnight shelter stays, serve 3.2 million meals and snacks to cold and hungry families and distribute more than 121,000 relief items such as warm blankets, cold weather gear, clean-up kits and hygiene kits,” said Gail McGovern, President and CEO of the American Red Cross. “We have activated our entire fleet of 323 Emergency Response Vehicles to bring meals, water, information and emotional support to impacted communities and we have deployed nearly 5,900 trained Red Cross workers to support relief efforts.”
In addition to the Accusoft in the Community, a Corporate Citizenship Program is also available. Through this program, every full-time employee is given 8 hours of paid time off per calendar year to volunteer at an approved organization of their choice. “At Accusoft, we believe it is important to give back to our community,” said Christine Hairelson, Human Resources Manager at Accusoft. “To foster this behavior, Accusoft has put together a corporate citizenship program that allows our employees to champion their own charity of interest as well as volunteer each year and be paid for that time away from work. Our Social Committee also coordinates volunteering and charity events throughout the year, such as Metropolitan Ministries’ food drives and holiday toy drives.”
