A Cloud Document Viewer Makes Everybody Happy

Cloud Document ViewerIt’s hard to imagine any single item that could please a web developer, an IT infrastructure manager, and an end user all at once. Ice cream or a good joke excepted, anything that makes one of these people happy usually makes at least one of the others miserable.

Tighten security to please the infrastructure maven, and you’ve made extra work for the developer and possibly compromised the user’s experience. Amp up the user experience and you’ve created bandwidth problems for the infrastructure maven and, again, more work for the web developer. (Everything makes more work for the web developer.)

Google starts using HTML5 and WebM for premium content - Gigaom
By Janko Roettgers

Google has quietly started to switch some aspects of its premium content offerings to its open source WebM video format. Google’s WebM product manager John Luther explained during a developer Hangout Wednesday that YouTube and Google Play video rentals are now using WebM as opposed to Flash on Samsung’s Chromebooks. “We will be rolling that out on more Chrome OS devices and other platforms soon,” he added.
Luther went on to explain that Google did a lot of work on the security layer that delivers the videos encrypted to an HTML5 player. “As far as I know, we are the first to ever do that,” he said.

It’s been five years since the announcement of HTML5 and yet the HTML5 vs. Flash debate continues to rage on among developers. Checkout the HTML5 vs Flash [Infographic].

Mobile Technology and the Radiology Practice: Implementation Strategy - ImagingBiz
By Cat Vasko

The use of mobile technologies holds a great deal of potential for radiology practices, Degati says. “Radiologists are enabled to make decisions in a more timely way than ever before: They do not have to be tied to desks or workstations, and they have the flexibility to work whenever and wherever they want, instead of being restricted to traditional hours of operation,” said Joe Degati, CTO for Medical Management Professionals (MMP). He adds, however, that an implementation strategy is necessary not only to make the best use of capital, but to avoid running afoul of privacy regulations.

Now mobile apps can facilitate rapid collaboration among physicians and the viewing of Electronic Health Records (EHR) by patients. To meet the demands of tomorrow's medical applications try out the AIMTools SDK.

How the Cloud is Impacting SharePoint 2013 - CMSWire
By Christian Buckley

The cloud is the evolution of software and collaboration — it’s something companies need to be thinking about, or they will get left behind. Within Microsoft's ecosystem, what is driving much of this dramatic shift toward the cloud is Microsoft itself, rather than their customer base. With competitors like Google driving a new breed of products and services geared toward the cloud and away from the traditional operating system model, Microsoft has scrambled in the past few years to outline their own cloud strategy — whether or not their vast customer base is ready for it.

One of the most cost-effective ways to drive productivity improvement initiatives is to increase collaboration across the enterprise, both internally among employees as well as between employees, partners, and customers, through the use of a standardized set of tools. HTML5 vs Flash [Infographic]

Html 5_vs _flash _infograph _200It’s been five years since the announcement of HTML5 and yet the HTML5 vs. Flash debate continues to rage on among developers.

Proponents of Flash argue that, with over 1 billion users worldwide, Flash isn’t going away any time soon. HTML5 advocates argue that several of the things Flash fans see as pros are actually major drawbacks.

Flash fans also argue that, with 99% of browsers supporting the technology, they have a much larger audience reach. Developers that prefer HTML5 also argue that because Flash code is compiled and that there is no way for a search engine to properly spider the content. That means all the great content in your flash banner, animation, or video adds nothing to your site’s search engine optimization (SEO).

How do you make a decision on which one is best for you?
